Destiny USA aims to be more than just a shopping destination this summer. The Syracuse mall is inviting families to bring their kids for some free activities and cheap movies every Tuesday starting this week.
"Tykes Tuesday" offers fun for children ages 0-12 in the Canyon, the expansion area of the former Carousel Center. Activities will take place from noon to 2 p.m. with "tykes" split up into three age groups, from infants to tweens.
The weekly event launches June 25 with free arts and crafts, while other weeks will feature a magic show and a carnival day. Participants will also have an opportunity for special offers and additional activities inside some stores, restaurants and kiosks.
"We're excited to create these new activities for families and young children as we continue to welcome new brands to the facility that cater to children," Destiny USA's General Manager Rob Schoeneck said in a press release. "It will be fun for every member of the family and free for kids to participate."
Regal Cinemas at Destiny USA and Shoppingtown Mall will also show kid-friendly movies every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. at a special admission price of just $1. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Will Rogers Institute.
