What?
The theme for 2013 is
"Come into the Parlor - The Warmth of Irish Hospitality?

In traditional cottages in Ireland and their new communities in America, Irish families made homes for themselves and shared what they had with their neighbors and friends. The Syracuse St. Patrick's Parade salutes the spirit of love and friendship that spread through Central New York with the help of Irish hospitality.

The Irish hearth sets the scene for a circle of abiding love, ancient tradition and religious values. Throughout history, new members of an extended Irish family — whether they were blood relatives through birth, in-laws acquired through marriage or the friends and neighbors who joined the family circle because of shared joys or sorrows —were welcomed with an open heart and a share of whatever was boiling in the pot. From the old country to new lives in America, through troubles at home and abroad, the love that binds Irish family members to each other extends to their neighbors, community and country.

Why?

On March 9, 2013, join a community celebration of the Warmth of Irish Hospitality and take the opportunity to share what you have by donating to the St. Patrick's Hunger Project.
